Up and caught the bus to Edinburgh about lunch time. Had a sleep in. I think we both needed it. Poppies growing in a crop at the bus stop.
Visited Edinburgh Castle and the golden mile. The castle was ok but I think Stirling Castle was better in a lot of regards and Annette agrees. We also did the Mary Close walk. This is one of 4 old narrow streets that went from the Golden mile down to the river and was build over when they built a new town hall and then forgotten about. It was an interesting experience to stand in part of the street as it was in the 17th century. We then walked up and down the golden mile exploring the area and watching the street performers. This young fellow had conned two of the onlookers to be part of his act. They are blunt but never the less, still small swords that he is throwing about. He was really good and had the crowd entertained. Check out his skinny legs.
Another liquid lunch.
Plenty of people had the same idea.
Good views from the castle.
Part of the Golden Mile.
Decided to have a baked potato. In we go and Annette asks for one with bacon. Not a problem you might say? Well yes actually, check out the bit of the sign to the left above the shop. Oops.
We went into a few of the shops. Now this lady could have sold me just about anything and she was doing a good job on this hapless fellow. The only thing that saved me was the look I was getting from the female in the background. You may have to zoom in and drag yourself away from the right side of the photo to see what I mean.
It is a pretty amazing town to look at.
