21st July Off to visit Beatrix Potter country.

Today off to visit Beatrix Potter country. Walked back into Bowness-on-Windermere, which is just a bit further past Windermere on the shores of Lake Windermere. Took all our wet weather gear as it looked like rain but in the end didn't need it as it turned out warm and sunny. Moss on the stone wall on the walk down the hill from the hostel.

This was also on the walk. A gateway and stairs in a part of the wall.

Purchased tickets to take a boat across the lake then bus to visit Beatrix Potters house. Got there and had a good look around. Garden a lot smaller than what we thought it would be and the house very dark inside. Annette enjoyed it.

After, had a walk through the village and up a few lanes. Lovely rolling hills with great views.

Back on the boat to Bowness-on-Windermere. At the jetty the crowds of people were feeding the swans.

The tradition launch we took across the lake. Found out later that it was only 50p to take the car ferry and walk the two miles.

Photo of the jetty area of Bowness-on-Windermere. Very busy with lots of boats leaving and arriving.

Annette went off and visited The World Of Beatrix Potter Attraction. She said it was pretty good and took a few photos. I just stayed outside and people watched. That was as interesting.

Back to the hostel and now we could see the view from the front patio.

Dinner and packed. Taxi booked for tomorrow morning. Train tickets booked. Accommodation booked in Woodstock. Bus schedule checked in Oxford and ok. Know exactly what we will be doing tomorrow and when. Very very scary that. Stayed up late doing the blog taking cough medicine, (whisky). A fair bit of medicine later I was tired enough to to get to sleep without coughing all night. What I do for my family and friends out there.
