New day and we are off walking to another old property, Standen. Its original owners built it as their holiday house. Not a bad one either.
Walked back to town across fields. Pretty country.
Caught a train to Oxted then another to Hever.
Off to have a look around and find a place to quietly pitch the tent for the night.
Walking down a small country lane when we stumbled across an elderly couple walking their dog. Got talking and they offered their field to tent in and asked us back for afternoon tea. This is where we pitched the tent.
Took an easy walk to dinner at a very old pub.
Had a lovely pizza and the bar maid maid us up a jug of Pims. It was full of freshly sliced fruit. Very nice.
Just across the road was this old Norman Church. Locked but will will have a look inside tomorrow. Off back to the tent
Me lost? Never. I'm just checking the map for that short cut that I was sure was just here!!!!!!.
OK it appears that they don't shear the sheep over here, just let the wool fall off them. The wool wouldn't fall off the sheep at home, would it?
Back to camp, along the creek, up a lane, across a paddock or two and down the road and on the way we saw our first deer.
Back to the tent and invited up to the house for a shower in the morning. Unexpected but very grateful.
