1st June. Walk to Bodiam Castle

Up early and gone before we are noticed. Walked across country to Bodiam Castle. Had a map and just followed the public foot right of ways which crossed the country in this area. Only had to go back once and I tell you 300 metres is a bloody long way to retrace your footsteps when you are loaded down with a heavy pack. Finally got to Bodiam in misty rain so we were in full wet weather gear. Got more than a few strange looks. On the way we passed hops.

It was a bit of a walk and after lunch we got to the castle.

It was just a tad worst for wear but still very interesting. They had a couple of catapults they were firing off landing the missiles in the moat, well most of the time cause when we were up on the top of the tower it went a bit off line and actually hit the side of the castle. Pretty impressive. Here is the crossing of the moat.

Another view of the castle.

Off from the castle and a walk to the next town to find somewhere to stay. Lovely old bridge not far from the castle.

Walked right through this apple orchard.

To this church yard. with this incredibly old entrance.

Into the town past this car that will make Trev weep. Nearly as bad as the on Graeme G has in his back yard.

Yes, that's the creeper growing over the front of the car. Got to the railway station and caught the train to Seven Oaks where we stayed the night at a motel. Luxury. (Yes I am exactly one month behind in posting the blog)

  1. Graeme, it appears that your memory is starting to go in your old age. Before you left I gave you clear instructions that any objects that you see that may be of interest to me, should be posted home! You have my address, I'll be watching the letterbox!
