10th of June. Started the Great Glen Way.

Yesterday Ben Nevis had cloud cover on the top all day and today was to be no better. Posted off a couple of items and off on our way on The Great Glen Way. On the way out we made a small detour to visit the castle ruins. It was well kept and very interesting but seemed to be a bit forgotten. Could have spent more time there but we were already late.

Had to cross this river on the way to see the Caledonian Canal and the series of locks called Neptune's Staircase.

Looking back at Ben Nevis and it has just a bit of cloud cover on the top. Should have stayed one more day and climbed to the top.

Looking at a swing bridge with the series of 8 locks behind it.

Boats going down the locks. Could have spent all day here watching it.

Walking along the canal the natural creeks have to go under it in places. This is one of them.

Here is my little girl blocking the tunnel.

Out in the first loch and just one of the many boats still using the waterway.

The walk today took in different types of country. This section was picture book material. Beech trees and moss.

It was a long walk and we decided to wild camp her on this rise overlooking the loch. In the background is Ben Nevis. Note, no cloud cover and you can see how far we have walked. Yes that is snow on top of it.

Oh yes, the jet fighter planes kept buzzing us and sometimes they were so close you could count the rivets but just too fast and low to get a photo.
