This is the roof top view from the window of the hostel. We are off to start the Speyside Way today from Aviemore to Buckie on the north sea coast. It's about 105 k long and should take us 5 or 6 days. Caught the train to Aviemore and when we arrived it was about 5 degrees. Freezing and we had just sent our thermals home yesterday to lighten the load. There was a steam train due to leave in ten minutes and it was going our way so tickets purchased quick smart and we are off.
Arrived in Boat Of Garten and had a hot chocolate and off on the trail. Walked through old pine forests to Nethy Bridge and found it a bit boring. From there along a disused train line to Grantown-on-Spey. Pretty country and houses.
I took a photo of the power line and Annette came back and asked me why I was taking a photo of them. Before I could reply she came back with, "I suppose we should record the good and the ugly." A bit of a pause then, "Is that why I'm in so many photos?" I said to myself, don't say anything, not a word, not a sound, don't even smirk, just keep walking.
This is a black sheep sitting on it's hind legs. How many years has it been since it was shorn? Anyone who has seen the movie Black Sheep will see that this one has attitude.
Stop for lunch along the disused railway line. The kids will appreciate the next photo.
Just one of the many bridges going over the line.
The river Spey.
On the old bridge just outside Grantown-on-Spey.
Just look at the flowers growing wild along the river.
Pitched the tent in the caravan park. It was large, clean and well managed.
