31st July Last day of the Cotswold Way.

Off with clean clothes and a big thank you given. I must say that today's walk was a bit boring. Annette was checking this out. One of the few she couldn't get her hands onto. Apparently the English had a pretty big battle here amongst themselves where a few too many bosses on both sides strayed too close to the action and got killed. Needless to say it was all about who was going to be boss over here (a reoccurring theme) so I won't bore you all with too many details.

View of Bath and very welcome it was.

It will do.

Nice row of cottages in Bath.

Looking down on what I took to be public housing in Bath?

Some how this photo jumped from first to last. Just another view along the way.

One thing I did find interesting was when we crossed over the main road where the battle was they had one of those road side stops. A spot to park the car, go to the toilet and get a burger from the burger van. Funny thing was the amount of vehicles parked there with no occupants. Very few people about enjoying the seating provided. Plenty of trees and bushes surrounding the area and in fact we had to walk through Beach Wood when we left. The whole thing was a bit creepy and unsavoury. When we walked through the wood all the undergrowth had been trampled so plenty of people use the area for what I could only imagine. That was the trouble and I was glad when we were out in the paddock past the trees. I didn't think Annette's education needed to be advanced here. Seemed to take ages to walk into Bath and when we finally got into the CBD it was turn a corner and whoops where in the hell did all the people come from. The streets were jam packed with people just walking about with nothing better to do except get in our way. Glad to get on the number 5 bus and out to the caravan park.

  2. When do you fly home? Can't be much longer now. You'll have to get the thermals out, we're having a good old fashioned wet, cold Hamilton winter. Looking forward to catching up with you. Have a safe trip home. Melita.
