Off today and should reach Bath tomorrow lunch time. Booked in to another B and B just past Cold Ashton. Came across this on the walk. Recently been built as a shelter for owls and swallows. Not a bad bird house.
Another old sign. Lucky Annette knew her XXX's and could translate it for me cause the only ones I know I haven't been able to print here. It meant we still had a way to go.
One of the sign posts Annette was following. As you can gather by the photos I spent most of the time following Annette. I found the view better that way.
Three stages of building.
Just a different type of gate.
I made the comment that it was the only thing I had been getting my leg over lately so Annette made me go back so she could get a photo of it. And you are wrong Trev, we had to go the other side of the fence. Though many times we did things and I wondered why.
Bugger it, off to the pub for a drink.
Got dived bombed by this. Actually it came up over the ridge from the valley we were approaching and I couldn't work out if I had finally broken something good and proper with all the huffing and puffing and the noise was in my head when it roared up and over.
Came across Dryham Park. Now this was a nice surprise and well worth a visit. In the end we got kicked out and could have stayed longer. National Trust property and very nice people running it (and may I also say pruning the pot plants)
Part of the garden looking towards the back(?) of the house.
Front of the house.
Back of the house. You saw a lot more of the house than most and just walked through the furnished rooms. Really good value and probably be one of the highlights of the trip as far as old houses go.
Annette wants one of these. They are just unbelievably beautiful. Beech tree of course. (Told her she had to give up hugging Scotsmen so I suppose she has to hug something).
Arrived at Cold Ashton, or a mile or so past it just off the track. Large B and B set up.
Yep....Graeme has lost it... I know that the stile is provided so you can get over the fence....but "hello"....the gate is OPEN!!!
