29th July Hodgecombe Farm to Coombe Farm.

Off and still sticky so we decided to cheat a bit this morning and instead of leaving camp and going straight up and over the hill you could see in the last photo yesterday we decided to take this short cut. Well if we hadn't taken the wrong turn and then if we hadn't asked for directions from a so called local it would have been shorter. Never mind.

Got into Dursley and spent ages looking for a laundry where we might be able to wash some clothes. By the time we had checked out all the false leads it was nearly lunch. Did a ring around and found accommodation at Coombe Farm B and B and the lady said we could wash our clothes there. Finally off, now very late. Straight up a hill. Nice old buildings with plenty of hanging baskets. The town itself appeared to have a large public housing population. Now who said I couldn't be diplomatic.

Check out the sign. The road was steep enough but when it turned left and we kept going up on a track it got worse, believe me.

Nice forest, just hard work with the packs.

Just past North Nibley 120 plus steps and climb to the Tyndale Monument. Now looking back I'm not 100 percent sure who he was. Maybe the gent who translated the bible and got himself killed for his trouble?

Impressive and another 100 odd steps to get to the top for the great views.

I just love the stone spiral steps. It was a long way down, all the way to the bottom if you tripped.

Got to the B and B and the lady refused to let us was our clothes saying she would do it for us and we could collect them at breakfast in the morning. Lovely. Quick shower, well actually long shower, Annette had to drag me out and off for a walk to the local pub for dinner. I owed Annette that much after the last two or so days of walking. She checked the pub out and found this bowling alley. It also had a glassed over well. The age of the buildings just keep knocking us over.

Back to the B and B and slept in a bed. Wow.
